MISSOMA
Missoma was founded around the kitchen table by Marisa Hordern, her mother ,Michelle and sister ,Sophie. Missoma focuses on creating the perfect demi-fine jewellery for your everyday wardrobe. An integral part of their designs is their ability to be worn alone or layered. They have been a part of TreeSisters which is a sustainable initiative to offset their customers carbon footprint on Black Friday by planting one tree per order. This was the catalyst for me to work with brands who are making a positive impact on the planet.
This was my first full-time role. I started as an intern but quickly progressed to an integral role leading the delivery of their e-commerce platform. I was there for 4 years (2016-2019) while it went through a huge amount of growth and development and learnt a breadth of skills, in a fast-paced start-up environment.
I delivered key projects that had a material impact on the performance of the business including:
Led a redesign of our website towards ‘mobile first’; mobile users +984% over last 2 years
Project managed a bespoke engraving feature to use as a marketing tool for gifting throughout the year
Played an integral part in the rapid growth of Missoma, taking revenues to £12m in 2018/19 (£390k in 2014/15)
No 2 in the 2019 Sunday Times SME Export Fast Track 100; No 4 in the 2019 Sunday Times Virgin Atlantic Fast Track 100
Broad-based growth in the UK, USA, Europe, China and Australia ;export sales £5m of £12m total in 2018/19
Increased scale and rapid growth in the higher-margin direct sales channel lifted the gross margin from 45% to 77%
